Estelle and Manu co-authored a paper published in Perspectives in Ecology and Conservation on leadership by researchers from the global south.
The authors argue that limited Global South participation and parachute science hampers tropical ecology progress and requires upgrades in equity, diversity and inclusion rooted in the Global South. Further, tropical conservation practices must be led by local researchers and stakeholders and outreach activities may improve recognition of Global South science. Lastly, international research must provide equitable workloads and recognition to Global South researchers. (paraphrased from the highlight points of the publication).
